My rating : ★★★★☆
“If my life were a book and you read it backward, nothing would change. Today is the same as yesterday. Tomorrow will be the same as today. In the book of Maddy, all the chapters are the same.
Until Olly.”
― Nicola Yoon, Everything, Everything
Madeline has been suffering of a severe immunodeficiency (SCID) all her life. She’s been living in a bubble life where everything had to be decontaminated, filtered, because everything she touches or eats can trigger her immunity system and hurt her. Until one day, a new family moves right beside her house and she falls in love with the boy next door. They begin to exchange messages through their windows, and then by chatting through IM. But then, they crave for more. They want to meet each other. The desire to touch other. The novel begins with an ordinary romance but the twist in the end is what makes this novel great. It takes the relationship between Madeline and her mother to another level and another layer is added to the complexity of their connection. Although Nicola Yoon didn’t develop the aspect as much, I love the psychology impact on that matter.
“Into all lives a little turbulence must fall.”
― Nicola Yoon, Everything, Everything
Also, I love the format of the book. The author inserts some definitions of her own, notes and drawings. It adds a fun effect to the story. The writing is perfect, no doubt about it. Yoon is skilled with her words and it reflects in her haikus, poems and definitions. It was fast paced; I read it within 24 hours hahah. Oh how I love being on vacation ❤ However, there was one side of the book that annoyed me the most : the spoilers. Yes, the spoilers from other books haha. So..If you haven’t read the Little Prince, I recommend you read it before reading this one.

That’s true. I am usually disappointed when I get too excited by something. Well, right now I’m finishing The Cuckoo’s Calling, and then I have to read After Sunset by Stephen King because I borrowed it from someone and I need to return it haha.
