HI GUYS!! Trang’s back 😀 I guess it will be a very comic focused post since yesterday is .. The 5th of November!! Hola to V for Vendetta reference 😉 It would be a shame to not mention this super graphic novel.
Beneath this mask there is more than flesh, Beneath this mask there is an idea, Mr. Creedy, and ideas are bulletproof.
Alright now back to Thor: Ragnarok movie and my verdict is …
5 STARS / 5
THE HUMOUR
This movie was amazing and HILARIOUS. I loved Marvel movies and I was very picky with Guardians of The Galaxy, but here the humour was just perfect. This movie is the perfect example of super heroes and comedy. It doesn’t feel forced, doesn’t feel like they’re trying hard. It is simply naturally funny. One character in particular that I absolutely loved is Korg (he’s the big blug guy made of rocks in this trailer) . I laughed EVERYTIME he was on screen.I just learned that he was played by the director Taika Waititi and all his lines WERE IMPROVISED OMG ❤ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GLz9AYXrK44
EVERY SCENE in this movie has a joke, it was the first time I hear so many laughters in less than an hour LOL
THE EMOTIONS
I think Marvel comes a long way and finally understood that a super hero movie is more than just PEW PEW and Special Effects. It’s how you make people feel. They nailed it in this movie by incorporating a lot of character’s depth. From family bond between Thor and Loki to Thor friendship with Hulk, we get to see it all.
THOR’S POWER
We finally get to see Thor and his real powers! A lot of Thor representation is him with his hammer that we almost forget that he is actually the God of Thunder. This movie shows it all, how he can embrace his inner strength and claim his thunder.
« Are you the God of Hammers? – Odin to Thor »
THE VILLAIN
If you saw the trailer you know that the villain in this movie is Hela, the goddess of Death who will stop at nothing to claim Asgard. Cate Blanchett was perfect for the role, she can be vulnerable and powerful at the same time. That’s what I love about this movie. You don’t just see the villain you see the origin of Hela and why she was banished from Asgard from the start. Honestly if I were in her place, I’d do the same.
Finally, an ending that makes sense ! We all know that you just can’t defeat The Goddess of Death with some.. Thunder right? 😉 They needed something stronger… and Thor came up with the perfect weapon!
If you watched the movie, what did you think about it? And what did you think about the post-credits scene (PSS THERE ARE TWO) ?
Spoiler here for people who watched the movie :
The ship that Thor & Co encountered looks like it’s a ship of..Thanos :O TUN TUN TUN.
I like to keep track of my infinity stones whenever I see a Marvel movie and I’m sad to say that.. we haven’t seen the Soul Stone in this one. My best guess is it’s going to be in Black Panther before Avengers: Infinity War! It’s logical when you think about it, how did the isolated island gets their powers huh ? 😉 Update : I completely forgot what I wrote in Guardians of The Galaxy.. WE ALREADY LOCATED THE SOUL STONE LOL It’s in Adam Warlock, at the end od the credit scene of Guardians of The Galaxy Vol.2 like I mentioned inmy review.
I just saw it last night and I could not agree more! I love Thor and I was underwhelmed by the storytelling of the first two movies but I cannot wait to OWN this and watch is forever. I loved Tessa Thompson as the Valkyrie – she was so amazing and a fantastic addition to the storyline. I could not agree more about Korg – I want my own Korg!

OH YES Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie ❤️😍 Totally forgot to mention that ! She was such a badass in that movie 😎 KORG AND HIS LINE I WOULD GO TO THAT SHIP WITH YOU HAHA

This movie was sooooo good! I loved the comedy and how it played on Planet Hulk a bit. Thor was such a badass this time around and it made for quite a movie!

Ouhh ! May I ask how did it play on Planet Hulk ? What was the reference with Hulk and that ship? I didn’t get it in the movie 🤔 (sorry a noob comic here HEHE 😆 😆 )
LikeLiked by 1 person
That ship at the end was Thanos’ ship so it’s leading into Avengers: Infinity War and the fact that Hulk was there fighting as a champion is the basis of planet Hulk. In that graphic novel, he ends up on the planet and fights his way to the top in the arena and becomes the leader of a band of misfits that start a revolution.

Oh damn!! 😱 Basically that planet they were on would become Planet Hulk after? That’s so cool! I meant the ship that Hulk was on before crashing into that planet hahah I didn’t remember where it comes from😳 (with Black Widow message?)
LikeLiked by 1 person
Oh that ship was the Quinjet which he left on in Avengers: Age of Ultron so that he wouldn’t hurt anyone. And then it shows that his ship got off track and thats how he ended up on that planet.

I actually loved the humor and focus on relationships in Guardian Vol 1+2, but the other movies in the main Avengers storylines have been a little less than I’d hope for. I’m glad to hear from you that this movie should be even better so I feel it might actually be worth it to go see it.

I loved the humour in both movies of Guardians of The Galaxy too! But I thought the second one some scenes were too trying hard to be funny 😂 but when Groot comes on screen 😍❤️ I really hope you are going to enjoy this movie ! 🤗

So I had to skim your whole review because I haven’t see Thor: Ragnarok yet (I can’t believe it, someone at work was actually shocked when I admitted this to them) and I don’t want any spoilers or any clue where the story goes other than what the trailers have told me.
Still just seeing you describe it as the best Thor movie yet in the title of your post alone makes me want to run out now and get a ticket. I can’t wait! 😀

LOOL no problem at all! I didn’t spoil anything though all the things that the trailed revealed already 😉

It’s sooo funny 😂 how I stumbled on another review of Thor and some people commented that they didn’t like the humour and they think it was even more “FORCED” than the Guardians of The Galaxy . Oh well, some can’t just appreciate. \_(ツ)_/¯

I’ve got to agree. I totally loved the film! I definitely agree with you about the humour being the most natural that the Marvel Cinematic Universe has had so far. Maybe that’s a side effect of all those improvised lines 😛

Those improvised lines helped no doubt !! 😂 It’s crazy how natural it felt. I recently watched a clip of how they orchestrate that Get Help Scene 😱 It’s brilliant!

OK so I think the nonhubs is wanting to go see this, but I have not been convinced. I really struggle with the theater right now due to health, so it is reserved for those special titles. You may have just won me over for him though haha 😉 He will love you for life lol.

I was surprised I liked it too. I had no intention to see it, but I had 2 hours to spare before attending an event where Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie was to speak (it was awesome!), so I went and was surprised by it.
I also appreciated the character depth/development in Hulk and that we get some of his perspective on things. And I loved Thor’s haircut and seeing him dressed as a Roman soldier (Chris Hemsworth is so hot! Dear lordt!!)

LUCK YOU!! You get to meet Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie :O Was it a TED TALK ? Hulk WAS SO SWEET. having his perspectives and seeing how human he can be sometimes made me go Awwwnn in every scene 😀 and yes. GOD BLESS CHRIS HAHA ❤

I didn’t meet her, just heard her speak. Wish I did meet her though. It was to accept the PEN/Faulkner Eudora Welty Lecture….I think she got an award….I didn’t pay attention to the details. I just saw her name and went, lol.
Lol I swoon all the time I saw Chris in his short hair.
Lol my fav part is when Hulk smashed him and Loki was like “Yes! That’s what it feels like!” Bwahahahahaa

Good to hear the new Thor movie flows better than the others. I didn’t like the 2nd Guardian of Galaxy myself. I didn’t think it was as funny as the first one and the movie just didn’t hang very well either. It was hard to get into it.

I was a bit iffy on the plot itself, but the movie was so hilarious that it’s probably one of my favorites anyway. “PISS OFF, GHOST!” I’m crying.

I loved this movie so much, I saw it twice! My biggest issue with the Thor movies has always been the lack of Beta Ray Bill as a character (I’m a serious BRB fangirl) – but as this movie was so well written, directed and acted, and there was even a brief reference to him in the busts on the GrandMaster’s house, I’ll forgive the MCU 😉
