Bookmail Appreciation : ARCs and goodies

Hi everybodyy!! 😀

As I mentioned in my last post I had some big migraines these past few days (it sucks because I have headaches with aura and I can’t do anything. Simply lock myself in the dark). It’s mostly caused by stress…maybe it’s all the university projects and the fact that I have to work at the same time T_T

So I thought I might just do a quick post of Bookmail, and what I got from publishers these last few months.  It will also give you a heads up of my upcoming reviews!

This is the post where I take a little time to show how grateful I am to be able to receive these books and I find it very impressive how they keep sending me books (despite my honest 2 starred reviews you know).

When I receive them, I look like this: (literally running around the house)tgif-when-your-boss-tells-you-can-leave-early-on-friday-tina-dey-liz-lemon-30-rock-running

For haters who are like boohoo ARCs …why do you that -selling your souls to big publishers, well…

Books Are EXPENSIVE. I’m broke. Get books for free = awesome opportunity.

I have to admit that they send quite the most amazing books LOL And some people may refer them as  Advance Review Copies (ARCs), but THAT TITLE doesn’t really apply here… because some of the books I requested can be published few years ago HEHE (like IT by Stephen King was published before I was even born).

Okay now after seeing this y’all must be like WTF?! LOL and have a lot of questions like:  how the hell did she receive those, did she frkn have time to read it all, etc.

For anyone who’s wondering, my max speed reading is one book a day ! So I can finish up to 5 books a week if I’m really committed.

If you want a post about ARCs and how to get them, or you have more specific questions, ask away and let me know in the comments 😀

What books are you excited for ? 🙂 I’m pretty excited to read all of them  to be honest!

Of course, a big thank you to Penguin Random House Canada, Simon & Schuster Canada, Harper Collins, Hachette Canada, US Macmillan 😀 FYI – They didn’t ask me to do this post, I did this on my own!

  1. I’m sorry you’ve had a migraine. 😦 I get them too and literally nothing helps except meds that I haven’t been able to take for the past year at least (new baby). I hope you feel better soon! I’m excited to hear what you think about The Bear and the Nightingale, The Power, Renegades, and IT, which I still need to read! And I would LOVE a post on how to receive ARCs in the future. 🙂

  2. I’m sorry to hear about your migraines. That is really annoying to say the least 😢 I hope you are now feeling at least a little bit better.
As for these books, they all look awesome, but that cover for The Hundred thousand kingdom, looks especially amazing. Looking forward to the reviews for all of these, and please take care, hope you will feel better soon 😀

  3. Oh no, I hope you feel better soon! ❤ ❤ Wow, you received some really amazing books! One of the books that I want to read the most is The Bear and the Nightingale – it sounds simply amazing and like a book that I would enjoy a lot! 😀 And that cover for The Name of the Wind is gorgeous, plus it has red pages (or whatever the side is called)! The Forbidden Wish is one of my all time favourite books and I hope you end up loving it as well. 🙂

  4. A-mazing amount of bookmail! It’s always harder for me to get bookpost because I don’t live in UK or US but I’m super grateful for the publishers who are willing to send one to me. I also have a Semi-Definitive List of Worst Nightmares (with another cover though- I liked the cat cover too but mine’s got pink on it so I’m still very happy, it was a win-win) which I won in a giveaway. I really look forward to reading that and I think it’ll teach me a lesson :-). I would love to read The Book of Dust because that topic interests me ;-). It’s amazing you can read one book a day (I’m on one book a week)! I hope you’ll feel better soon so that you can read all these great books. Happy reading!

  6. I kind of have a question now… Whenever you are asking publishers for review copies, you are asking them for copies, even for books that have been released months, or years ago? I have to admit I never thought of that – that makes sense, since everyone is always talking about ARCs and not really backlisted titles anymore, ahah, but that’s actually a fantastic idea. There are so many great books I would love to read, but I don’t have enough money to buy them. ANYWAY ahah.
I really love this post. It’s so great that you managed to get SO MANY books from publishers, you are SO lucky and your pictures are on point. Also… we all love your 2-stars reviews 😉
Did you read Flame in the Mist and Forest of a Thousand Lanterns? I can’t remember if I saw one of your reviews for these 🙂

  7. THOSE ARE SERIOUSLY ALL SO AWESOME! I never requested physical ARCs in my life. I would definitely enjoy reading a post about how to go about it though! I am always confused about how much I should write about myself when I request something and generally what to include in the mail without making it too long. As an international blogger getting actual physical copies is more on the unlikely side anyway though, so I am not super into getting my hopes up hahaha love the books you got, though! So happy for you 😀

  8. Oh this is an incredible haul Trang, and I agree with you in that ARCs are publisher copies are a great way to get books without spending all your money on them (I spend way too much money on books it has to be said). I hope you enjoy/have enjoyed all these books. I spotted some of my favourites in these photos so I’ll be interested to see what you think of them. 🙂

  10. Considering that I’m pretty much a confirmed ebook reader by now, physical arcs just don’t do it for me anymore.
And besides, having ARC, READER COPY, NOT FOR RESALE, etc, splattered all over the cover would ruin the reason I’d want a physical copy.

But this perfectly illustrates why we’re not all clones of each other 😀

    1. If a publisher got me The Name of The Wind Anniversay Hardcover like the one Trang got , I think I would die of excitement💜💜 No ARC, READER COPY, NOT FOR SALE splattered on that one 😉

      1. yeah, but it’s Name of the Wind. Written by the world’s biggest liar, a man who lied through his teeth to his fans right from the get go and who continues to lie. If a publisher sent me that, I’d burn it and maybe try a voodoo doll thing…

  12. So many great books! I’ve already read unearthed and renegades, super excited to see what you think of both of them ❤ Sleeping giants and Waking gods are my all time FAVES *but* only on audio, I havent tried the physicals but the audio narrators are the best I've ever listened too and add a whole new element to the story itself, which is still fantastic 🙂 I hope you love all of these!

  13. I suffer with really bad headaches/migraines at times too, you don’t feel like/can’t do anything and it sucks.😞

That is a mega haul of books, so so so so many! You probably still get lots of books despite your 2-star reviews as
you are honest, publishers/publicists want honesty when reviewing even
if it’s a negative honesty! Got to ask, did you leave any books for anyone else?😂

“For haters who are like boohoo ARCs …why do you that -selling your souls to big publishers, well…” – that is quite simply the best line ever! I say f#ck the ARC haters! 👊

You got a The Name of the Wind 10th anniversary edition as an ARC?!? Holy sh#t! I haven’t seen anyone else receive that as an ARC to review! Respect!👊 It’s a great book too as is Godsgrave.😀

  15. I’m sorry to hear about your migraines… they are tough and I understand that the DARK is the ONLY thing that helps… I have a friend who gets them all the time… and her husband is rather stressful to her. 😦 Hope you enjoy all those real book ARCs Trang! I read real books at half speed to eARCs lol… do you get so many real book ARCs because you are in Canada? Anyway a post on ARCs would be super fun to read ❤
