The great comeback of Detective Chimp! Love it 😀 I am partial to Swamp Thing, and Chimp as well (I think I met him in Metal for the first time, so it’s not a long acquaintance by any measure), and this sounds actually really promising, Lashaan! I wonder what Constantine is up to, though – I know it’s a magic team, but I wonder whether he actually joined one of the other teams?
Hahah it’s actually nice to see how Tynion IV brings Swamp Thing and Detective Chimp together here. He gives them a proper personality, especially Detective Chimp who sometimes serves as comic relief, with Man-Bat, sort of like he tried to do with Clayface in his Detective Comics run. As for Constantine, he is part of the storyline and is actually at the heart of some of the problems. I’m actually impressed by how Tynion IV handles all of these characters and brings them all relevantly into this story. Definitely my favourite run by Tynion IV for now. Far better than Snyder’s ongoing Justice League run, surprisingly…
Ahhh!! And I agree, when tackling world building, sometimes writers tend to overestimate its value and spend almost all of their time explaining this awesome universe they have built, overlooking the fact that while world building is a VERY important aspect, the others such as characters, their relationships with each other, the plot, AND how its handled ARE VERYY VERRYYY IMPORTANT AS WELL!
And it seems like James Tynion IV has handled all of that masterfully! 😍😍❤️❤️❤️ And the fact that the readers got a more intimate knowledge of the heroes’ hearts, thoughts, and their fears just adds to the enjoyment, yeah?
Quite the name, right? Makes you imagine all kinds of danger… The OTHERKIND. 😛
Absolutely, Rain. I think authors who know how important all those elements are are winners. When it comes to comics, it’s also something that isn’t easy to do, considering the limited room but here’s Tynion IV who doesn’t mind writing a lot if it means giving us more out of the character and the world! 😀
Thank you so much for your kind words and for reading this, Rain! I appreciate it a lot! 😀
WOW that shot of the horse is gorgeous!! I can see why you have a lot of hope with this series if he’s going to take a go at Batman!! I love that he seems to balance the world building with the delving into character at the same time. That’s hard to do with the comic format. It seems you’re in for some powerfully good comics in the future from this maker Lashaan!! 😉
Right? There are several splash pages like those that really wow you throughout the volume. And exactly! The balance between intimate and universal is impressive. Especially for comics. And I like how new this one was in terms of lore.

Thank you so much, Caroline! I find that the colouring is what makes this even better, there’s a dégradé and tonality that makes this so epic. 😛
