I have to say that it sometimes throws me off when the artstyle isn’t consistent for a continuous storyline, but it sure sounds intriguing. I am warming up to DC comics more and more.
I’m really happy to hear that, Kat! It is indeed a lot tougher to appreciate these story arcs when the artwork starts to really change from one issue to another. But at least it’s not always the case! 😀
Okay so the only way the havoc that has been set into motion can be undone is by opening the box again? By the hands of either the purest or the darkest hearts? 😱😱😱😱😱 Okay, colour me intrigued! 😍😍😍😍
Aaaaannndddddd it all comes down to the execution! Ugh…its the WORST when the idea and the setting everything is soo promising but the way its been handled is a thousand colours of disappointment! 😭😭😭😭😭😭 I was really getting excited about the story, you knowww!! ☹️☹️
It’s a pretty cool premise, right? It does make it a goose chase though, as she’ll have to test a couple of people out before ever finding the right one hahaha And yes it does come down to the execution and since the whole process is bound to be done in pieces, and not so much in unison, this ends up being choppy/redundant. Hopefully the next story is much better. 😉
Crossovers can be the greatest thing, or the worst thing. One needs to know who to highlight heroes/ teams from other stories, but also mesh them together so they work for the current story and do not stick out like sore thumbs. So it sounds a bit like another place-holder.
Yep. They’re more often a miss rather than a hit though and it’s really because there’s a money-scheming structure to how they’re released that sort of ruins any story-telling potential. It’s why there’s always a bunch of artists and writers, it’s a bit unfortunate. I see reading these as an opportunity to know what the original stories were, to just know them as “general” lore knowledge, rather than judge them for their qualities.
I don’t mean to offend any fan, but that’s exactly why I’m over all “superheroes”. They’ve been turned into money-making machines more than anything else.
Can’t deny that. But I’m pretty hopeful/optimistic about the comic book business as there are still some great stories that occasionally published to this day. Just got to choose wisely hahah
Oh well, sooner or later it had to flop, at least a bit 😉 I’m more worried about the DC tendency to mix up the artists and styles. It’s pretty irritating in my opinion, as the art is in consequence uneven and detracts from the story.
Indeed. Honestly, the event I’m looking forward to the most from this JL run is the final Darkseid War saga. I doubt that they’ll ever ban the multi-artist/writer projects since it helps produce more content faster but at least there are occasional story arcs where there’s consistency and quality paired together.
Ow nooo it must be so disappointing when something that should be that epic isn’t perfect 😯 It sounds like the story had so much potential but it never reaches it 😯 If there’s something epic here, it’s your review 😍 hahahaha
Hm, yeah…I kind of agree with you on this one my friend – as you say it’s the haphazard nature of it all that lets it down. Luckily ‘Forever Evil’ is decent, don’t lose heart…’Darkseid War’ is in sight haha!
