If you’re looking for a good fall vibes, suspense and fantasy book, look no further. The Bone Houses will deliver in world building, realistic characters with a marvelous blend of witchcraft and zombies.
Aderyn is a gravedigger, a job that seems to be extinct but she kept the tradition from her father. While having to deal with keeping the income for her family, the debt from her uncle but also a confused and lost mapmaker Ellis. She’s one of a few characters that I can relate to. Not that I dig graves. But for her frankness, sometimes clumsy but always determined sense of self. She’s got enough confident to know what’s going on in her village despite everybody else telling her otherwise.
Although sometimes, I personally think the prose tends towards a younger audience, the pace and the storyline is pretty solid. I would recommend this book for people who love a light atmospheric and spooky read on this month of November with a nice hot cocoa on the side on a rainy day. 😉
What do you think? Have you read this book? Will it be on your TBR list?
Thank you to Hachette Group Canada 🍁 for sending me this copy to review.
I am intrigued, but not sure that it’s really for me. I love witchcrafty stuff, but am a little on the fence about zombies and resurrections. Also, I have been gravitating more towards adult fiction, so we will see. I’ll make sure to keep a lookout if I see it in stores 😀

I’ve seen this book mentioned on other book blogs, so there must be something good about it. But I dislike reading theme books during particular seasons.
