When I saw the trailer on Netflix, I KNEW I had to watch this show and I fell in love with it! I was a big fan of Gossip Girl and so the concept it was in the Regency Era was even better. I found some similar patterns to my favourite shows and so here are 5 good reasons to watch this one:
- The script. One of the things I absolutely hate in TV Shows is a bad script. And surprisingly, as I watch Bridgerton I find myself impressed with some of the lines! And I found out it was actually inspired by the Bridgerton series by Julia Quinn, which explained why the script was good haha.
- The chemistry. There was an actual chemistry on screen between the main characters. That is so important in any romantic series and Daphne and Simon nailed it. From the initimate glares, the teasing, the laughing to the steaming scenes. The cast have done it beautifully.
3. The blend with modernity. Like with any historical fiction, the JOY of seeing the costumes on set. Now some people complained about how cheap the costumes look or the plastic feel of it, the costume designers state that they wanted to introduce a more modern version in the show which explains modern fabrics as well. They also introduce a few Pop Music hits but in a classical version and I find it brilliant.
4. Lady Danbury and The Queen. These two wonderful women and characters absolutely stole the show for me LOL The humor and the sassiness were impeccable.
5. The beautiful aesthetic and set-up. The art director of this show must have had a blast because it’s beautiful from every angle. All the dances, to the houses, to the shops were gorgeous.
Now, I’m not saying this show is perfect. It did have some flaws; some episodes were irrelevant and some characters were actually annoying. However, as long as I remember I haven’t enjoy a romantic historical fiction in so long and I was ready to overlook those aspects.
Have you watched this show? Did you read the books? Did you like it?

Yes – a very emphatic yes – to all your reasons 🙂
I enjoyed season one of the show and look forward to the next one: it might be on the light side, but now and then we oh-so-badly need something to lighten our mood, and in this Bridgerton was just perfect…

I watched and loved the show too! I am not sure that the script being inspired by the novels is really what made it good though, because all the things the Shondaland production implemented (more diverse cast, change of certain events, …) were actual improvements in my eyes haha I am very curious for the new season now though and the introduction of Kate.

I think Shonda did bring her own style into it! But I read that in an interview although there were some script changes most of it stayed true to the books, and I think that’s why when you have a novel to based on it’s easier for the show writers to make good script 🙂 They even let the author consult every page of the script ! But I’ll have to read the books to compare for myself 🤣
I’m very curious as well! And wonder who’s the actress playing Kate in S2 😍😍

That’s fair! I just read a couple excerpts from the books and not the whole thing and it made me cringe so hard, which the show never did, which is why I wrote that haha

#4 and #5 are huge ones for me. My eyes zoomed to Lady Danbury and the queen whenever they were on screen. I also loved the costumes and all the colors! I really want to watch it all over again.

I love that you came up with 5 reasons. Mine was just 1…The Duke of Hastings 😀 I enjoyed the show though and can’t wait for book 2. I wonder which sibling will be the focus.

That show left me wanting more. I love and hate when shows do that to me. Now I have to wait for a second season. Damn you Netflix! But as a consolation, I have the first book on my shelf to read! Woohoo!!

The first two episodes didn’t impress me, and I wondered what the big deal was, but now at the end of the series, I love it! I hope it gets eight seasons and can concentrate on a new Bridgerton sibling each time.
