Yep. Like most anthologies. There’s always a couple of bad ones among the goodies! 😀

Good to see this first batch went out on a high note. Looks like you much preferred the two stories by Hill over those of the other writers. We’ll have to see what comes of Hill House Comics in the future.

It also seems like you were very wise in gifting both Joe Hill stories to your friend! 😉 I do hope that this line-up gets a Phase 2 in the future. It adds a nice amount of variety to DC Comics and their various imprints.

I don’t do well with horror these days, but I like that there’s a sprinkle of dark humour to lighten the load. I can’t stand horror that relies on the blood and guts to instil fear so the fact that it’s the narrative that instils this fear is a welcome sight. I just hope that this story won’t keep me up at night haha.

I’m with you. Horror stories that purely rely on gore and gore and disgusting elements to scare readers (or viewers) usually flop for me, since they also tend to sacrifice story-telling for those elements! Hope you get to try this one out someday though, Lois! Thanks for reading! 😀

Tell me about it! I wouldn’t mind seeing this one get a sequel if they ever go for a Phase 2 with this Hill House Comics line-up! 😀

I haven’t heard if there will be any more, and while it was certainly uneven, I’d be excited to read more from this label!

Well personally I am not sold on the art 😉

That’s unfortunate to hear, Sophie! Thankfully, there are many other stories with excellent artwork that would surely impress you! 😉

I do enjoy Immonen’s art; and the story sounds very interesting. Thanks for sharing, Lashaan!

It’s my pleasure! I was unsurprisingly satisfied by this one and can safely conclude that both Joe Hill stories are the best of the bunch, if the Hill House Comics line-up ever intrigued you. 😀 Thanks for reading, as always!

I will see if our library has this, along with that dollhouse story you previously reviewed.

Of all five Hill House Comics stories, the two written by Joe Hill were the best for me: Basketful of Heads and Plunge! Hope you can give them both a try someday!

Sounds like a great premise but we know that the world cannot handle all the answers so I’m assuming those will stay hidden…

Good deduction, Sherlock! 😉 At least the focus isn’t on those answers but on who has them here. 😀

Awesome! I haven’t read any of the Hill House books but this one has been on my radar since it started coming out in single issues, definitely have get the collected edition, I’m even more excited by your comparison with masterful Messrs. Scott and Carpenter (sounds like a law firm haha). Great stuff Lashaan, that’s another one sold!

If there’s anything I should say about the Hill House Comics is that Plunge and Basketful of Heads were the best ones and they’re both by Joe Hill. Glad to hear your interest in this one though! Hopefully you’ll get to try it out someday for yourself. Thanks for reading, Chris! 😀
