You can find out more about my thoughts by visiting me over on my blog here:

Some of the Lana Lang stuff is good, and Christopher Reeves is still great as Superman, but Superman III can be summed up with two words – bad comedy. There are very few types of movies that are harder to sit through than a bad comedy.

Wholly agree with you there. I actually prefer Lana Lang to Lois Lane here too. Reeves can hardly be blamed for a bad script and bad comedy is indeed the bane of this movie. I can’t wait to see how much worse the sequel is.

Superman 4 is worst, but if you’re in the right mood, it can be hilariously bad.

Pryor should NEVER have been put into this movie. His brand of comedy was the worst possible combination conceivable. His character’s tech savvy should have been fused with the Entrepreneur’s evilness. I haven’t watched much Pryor but was he big stuff at the time? I can’t think of any other reason for him to have been cast in this movie.

Based on what I know, he was very much a recognized comedian since the 70s. I have no idea if his stuff was still funny by 83 but I know I found him painful to watch in the movie today… These screenwriters really tried to create something a la Adam West’s Batman with Superman and it just didn’t feel right at all…

Office Space totally ripped this film off, just saying.

And they seemed to have done a much better plot with that story too.

Awful film, but as you say, it gets worse after this…

I wouldn’t want you to torture yourself through this one but wait till I share my thoughts on the 4th and last Reeve’s movie… 😀

Oh, Lashaan, why did you have to do this? I’d been completely happy having long ago forgotten this movie even existed. But now you’ve dragged it back from the past and I struggle to get it out of my head. There are times I look very fondly on the past. And other times not so much. 🙂

Hahahaha I gladly go through these at least once so that we can all vicariously live through these disasters through my reviews. 😛 I doubt I’ll bring it back in the future but there’s still the 4th and last Reeve’s Superman movie though… 😛

That is the way. The only way. I doubt I could take anyone seriously if they tell me they adored this movie. Now I can’t wait to go through the 4th movie… 😛

Just from the trailer – it seems that the character of Superman was an afterthought in this movie titled “Superman.” Your review seems to echo that.

Oh yes. I mean, there’s still plenty of Clark Kent and some Superman, and some Evil Superman moments. But the spotlight is too often on Pryor’s lame comedy. It didn’t help that the plot was a mess to begin with too.

Oh no, this sounds awful! I’ve only watched the first movie with Reeves, and as far as I remember I quite enjoyed it, but that was ages ago. My taste might have changed since then. In any case, I am not going to attempt this one!

The first two Reeves movies should be all anyone should ever have to go through if they want some classic Superman adventures. The next two… Well… Nop. 😀 Thanks for reading!
