My Monthly Anticipation | October 2021

Hello ladies & gentlemen,

Who doesn’t love the anticipation of new releases and things that they plan on doing? Every month there seems to be something new and exciting ready to hit the market for our consumption.

Being ready to embrace them with open arms is all we can really do.

  1. I did not realize the new venom movie was going to feature carnage. I might have to go watch the first one then.

I am looking forward to Dune too. However it turns out, it should be a fun ride 😀
I am trying to drum up interest for the upcoming WoT series on amazon. With just having posted my review of the final book yesterday and being done with the series, I don’t know what to feel. I want it to succeed but I had enough issues with the books that I’m not sure how I’ll view the movies. I’ll be watching it though, for sure 😀

    1. Don’t expect the first movie to be mind-boggling. It was a fun movie, it had a lot of flaws, but it’s just so nice to see Venom on the big screen, done way better than what we got in Spider-Man 3. 😛 I’ll be checking out the sequel on Wednesday and I hope Carnage does some… carnage. 😉

Glad to hear that you’ll be sacrificing yourself for the good of the people by trying out the show. I look forward to your rants or raves of it. It might as well give me a good idea of its quality and if it’ll eventually be worth my time. I’ll personally probably try and get through the first book before the season premieres! 😀

  2. I loved Tom Hardy in Peaky Blinders, but I wasn’t into the first Venom film at all. My son is looking forward to it seeing the new film as he loved the first one. Bond looks great, but I can’t decide if I want to watch it in the cinema as it’s almost three hours long! Plus I was so disappointed with Sceptre as I loved Skyfall, it was brilliantly over the top! 😀

    1. Ahhh, the first movie really was something… messy. 😛 I definitely wouldn’t say it’s perfect or really that good but Tom Hardy makes things decent no matter what and I had fun with it despite all the ranting by the community hahah If this sequel does at least better than the first one, I’ll be really happy! I hope you get the chance to check out the final Bond movie someday soon, or once it hits a streaming service that you have, Nicki!

      1. You’re right… although I only went maybe once or twice a year anyway 😀 Has to be something I really want to see! I will also be looking forward to the next Fantastic Beasts film which was recently announced, I will certainly want to see that at the cinema.

  3. It’s all about balance. I hope you find a good one for you. After all, being happy is worth putting a little effort into, eh? 🙂 Can’t wait to read your thoughts on The Pariah, whether or not they match my own. And though I won’t be there for the premiere, and I likely won’t even catch it in the theaters, I do look forward to seeing the new Dune.

    1. Absolutely. It’s always about balance. Excess has never been a good thing. Unless it has no repercussions whatsoever? 😀 I do look forward to exchanging notes on The Pariah! I hope you get the chance to check Dune someday, my friend. If you have HBO Max, it’ll be on there on day 1 at least! 😉

  4. Villeneuve’s DUNE turned out to be everything I hoped for and more: I’m glad that we were able to watch it sooner on the other side of the ocean, because I could not wait to see Herbert’s vision finally translated on screen, and this time I have no qualms with how the story and the characters were portrayed. And now the wait for Part 2 begins… 🙂

      1. I like Hardy too much for facepalms 😜 I actually liked it more than most of the new MCU movies – it didn’t take itself seriously and was gloriously, refreshingly wacky. Not sure if the sequel is any good, but I intend to give it a try 😉

  5. Here’s to recalibration! I think it’s something many of us need.
The book looks absolutely horrifying (in a good way), so I’m not surprised to hear that you might give it a go.

(P.S. This post seems to have a different design. No? Some text is bolded and in a different font. It clashes a bit for me, which messed with my reading of it.)

    1. Absolutely! And yes, if I ever get my hands on a copy, I’d read it (but, for now, I don’t, so I doubt I’ll get to it hahah). Hmmm… Interesting. There are some different fonts used to distinguish different things (for example, to distinguish blurbs from my thoughts). Would you have preferred everything with the same font?

  6. Lol! I have Nothing But Blackened Teeth on my TBR because of that cover. It’s so scary.
I’m looking forward to Venom too. I liked the first one, but I also wish it was R-rated. I want it to be dark and gritty, which I think it has potential to be.
Hope you get to take it easy in October.

  7. Sooo many things to look forward to, yet so little time, but at least there are great movies and books to keep us company no matter what 🙂 Khaw’s book looks too scary for me, so I’m definitely skipping that haha Here’s to a great rest of the year, Lashaan!
